This is a critical abstract of an economic evaluation that meets the criteria for inclusion on NHS EED. Each abstract contains a brief summary of the methods, the results and conclusions followed by a detailed critical assessment on the reliability of the study and the conclusions drawn. In this clinical trial, GM-CSF use during induction chemotherapy for patients aged 55 to 70 years was associated with fewer days with neutropenia, a decrease in treatment-related toxicity and infectious toxicity, improvements in median survival rates, and $2,310 savings in costs of supportive care.
