Incidence of hepatitis associated antigen in commercial control serum

Category Primary study
JournalLaboratory Medicine
Year 1973
20 different commercially prepared control sera were randomly selected and tested in duplicate for hepatitis associated antigen (HAA) by the radio immunoassay method. Hepatitis associated antigen was demonstrable in 60% of the control sera tested. It is doubtful whether these results represent false positives since the specificity of each positive result was tested. All positive sera were completely inhibited by the overnight absorption with HAA antibody.
