INTERVENTION: 1. Patients wear compression stockings for 6 months 2. No stockings Please note, this trial was stopped in 2004 due to poor recruitment. CONDITION: Cardiovascular: Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) ; Circulatory System ; Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) PRIMARY OUTCOME: Venous function SECONDARY OUTCOME: Not provided at time of registration INCLUSION CRITERIA: 250 patients with first episode single limb, proximal vein thrombosis.
