Effects of rest on low back strength in healthy adults and with chronic non-specific low back pain

INTERVENTION: Eighteen healthy subjects and 18 diagnosed with non‐specific chronic low back pain will be recruited. This is a crossover study with an interval between sessions of at least 7 days. The order of the recovery interval will be randomly defined by simple drawing. The randomization of the recovery interval, anthropometric variables and anamnesis will be performed on the first day of the visit. The subjects will perform three visits to the laboratory, each day of visit will be performed data collection with a different recovery interval. All data will be collected at the Faculty of Ceilândia, University of Brasília. Volunteers must be without physical exercise for at least 72 hours before data collection. The first visit to the laboratory will be to collect the anthropometric data, the anamnesis, perform the randomization of the recovery intervals and perform the first day of exercise. The second and third visits to the laboratory will be to perform the trunk extension exercise with the drawn recovery intervals. The visits will take place with an interval of 7 days, and with a maximum time of 60 minutes. Three recovery intervals will be used, 30s, 60s and 90s, at two different isokinetic speeds, 60º/s and 120º/s, and before the test execution, a warm‐up and familiarization will occur. All exercise sessions will be supervised by Physical Education or Physiotherapy professionals and students. The anamnesis questions will be answered by each individual in order to obtain personal data and general clinical conditions. For the measurement of body mass, the subject must be barefoot and standing, with feet together and facing forward, shoulders relaxed and upper limbs along the body, rigorously positioned. It is expected to find that the 60s recovery interval will be the most effective. Verified by peak torque on the isokinetic dynamometer. The force generated by the individuals will be observed. Expected to find a greater value in the 60‐second recovery SECONDARY OUTCOME: No secondary outcomes expected INCLUSION CRITERIA: Civilians from the Federal District and surroundings; Healthy people; Diagnosed with chronic non‐specific low back pain; Men; Individuals between 18 and 55 years old; Be physically fit and willing to complete training sessions
