IN A DESIGN IN WHICH EQUAL NUMBERS OF SS ARE ASSIGNED AT RANDOM TO SEVERAL TREATMENT GROUPS, IT IS ARGUED AND SHOWN THAT ANALYSIS OF VARIANCE OF PRETEST-POSTTEST DIFFERENCES OR SUMS IS EQUIVALENT TO A MORE COMPLEX "MIXED" ANALYSIS USING INTERACTION TERMS.
