To study the expression of CD44V6 in non small cell lung carcinoma(NSCLC) and the correlation between CD44V6 positive expression and prognosis, tissue sections from 62 cases with NSCLC who had been followed up for five years were investigated for expression of CD44V6 by immunohistochemistry(S P method). The results showed that the expression rate of CD44V6 in NSCLC was 69.3%,and CD44V6 positive expression was associated with clinical stages lymphnode metastasis and 3 and 5 year survival rate of postoperation but was not correlated with histologic types. In addition, strong positive expression of CD44V6 was seen in the patients with tumor size above 6 cm.The results suggest that CD44V6 positive expression might be used as an indicator for the development of prognosis in NSCLC.Therefore,CD44V6 is considered as one of the examinations for evaluating the progress of lung carcinoma.
