Effect of haloperidol on early postoperative delirium and late postoperative outcomes in elderly patients after non-cardiac surgery: a multi-central, randomized controlled trial

INTERVENTION: Group A:Haloperidol is administrated (IV bolus 0.5mg followed by continuously IV infusion 0.1mg/h) until 24 hours after surgery.;Group B:Normal saline is administrated intravenously in the same rate and volume as that in Group A. ; CONDITION: Patients admitted to the SICU after major non‐cardiac (intra‐thoracic or intra‐abdominal) surgery under general anesthesia. PRIMARY OUTCOME: the incidence of early postoperative delirium;Mortality; SECONDARY OUTCOME: Incidence of postoperative complications; INCLUSION CRITERIA: (1) Age >= 65 years; (2) Patients admitted to the SICU after major non‐cardiac (intra‐thoracic or intra‐abdominal) surgery under general anesthesia.
